2019 NBA All-Star Game
The 2019 NBA All-Star Game was the 68th edition of this exhibition basketball game played on February 17, 2019. This is the second time which the format was not East/West. The match was held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, home of the Charlotte Hornets. Charlotte was announced as host on May 24, 2017. This was the second time that Charlotte hosted the All-Star Game; the very first time was in 1991, at the Hornets’ previous residence stadium Charlotte Coliseum. The game was likely to be played in Charlotte at 2017, but was transferred to New Orleans because of controversy surrounding the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act. The match was televised by TNT for the 17th straight year, also was also simulcast on TBS in some niches.
Both teams have been coached from their conference. Mike Budenholzer, coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, was called the head trainer for Team Giannis. Michael Malone, coach of the Denver Nuggets, was named as the head coach for Team LeBron. It marks the first time because the 2008 NBA All-Star Game where both coaches didn’t have a playoff berth during the previous season
About February 1, 2019, Commissioner Adam Silver named Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki as particular team roster additions for the game, citing their contributions to the match. They were chosen in the last round of the 2019 All-Star Draft, making every single roster include 13 players.
