HIGHLIGHTING HEADLINES IN MMA (AUGUST 20, 2017)

12-fight UFC veteran Sam Sicilia latest to Signal multi-fight Bellator contract

Good ! Dropping a unanimous decision to promotional newcomer Gavin Tucker in UFC Fight Night 105 back in October, Sicilia dropped to some three-fight losing skid in the UFC and received his pink slip from the advertising. I like he’s found a new house using Bellator, and hopefully an equally good or better cash back. Win or lose, the Washington native always shows up to battle and looks for the end. Congratulations to Sammy Dubs because of his new arrangement, and best of luck on his new chapter.
Frank Mir agrees to deal with Bellator MMA
Nice! The UFC did the ideal thing and published Mir out of his contract, which enabled Bellator to sweep up him. My guess is that they guaranteed him a matchup against Fedor Emalianenko, which made him choose Bellator over rival promotions. I like this move by Mir and anticipate watching him within the Bellator cage. The Fedor matchup would surely be an intriguing one.

NAC Requires lighter eyeglasses for Mayweather vs. McGregor
This was some astonishing news. Two ounces is not much, but I think that it makes somewhat of a difference.
Dillashaw: Mighty Mouse was’consolation prize’
TJ Dillashaw is finally set to face UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt in UFC 217 at New York City on November 4th, and the most important reason this name fight is now happening is because UFC flyweight champion Demetrious”Mighty Mouse” Johnson refused to defend his title against Dillashaw when Garbrandt was forced out of their UFC 209 contest due to injury. The Duane Ludwig-trained fighter knows that Johnson wasn’t confident in himself to accept the challenge. Talking to MMA Junkie Radio, Dillashaw explained that the Gabrandt struggle is what he wanted all along and that the Johnson matchup was just a backup plan. He knows that’s not a fantastic fight for him wouldn’t take it,” Dillashaw said. “He is real worried about the record he wants to break. Go ahead and let him do that, I figure.”
White: Ferguson, Lee to fight for interim lightweight title Alright, now we’re talking! Early common consensus is that Ferguson is going to handily defeat Lee, but I’m not so convinced. Lee has been very impressive as of late, and I like seeing his growth within the Octagon. That is a matchup I am looking forward to visiting, and win or lose, I hope Lee does not suffer any injuries so he’ll make a quick turnaround for December’s UFC 218 in his native Detroit, that is just two months following the Ferguson bout.
Paulo Borrachinha Costa: ‘I Will Knock Out Johny Hendricks’
Yeah, we’ll see about that, Paulito.
Does Former Invicta Champ Tonya Evinger Deserve a UFC Bantamweight Title Shot?
Why not? The division isn’t exactly stacked with potential contenders.
McGregor’100 percent’ considers himself the UFC 145-pound champ
LOL Quit playing, Connie.
Diego Sanchez yields to welterweight, meets Matt Brown in UFC Fight Night 120
No, Diego, Nooooo!!!!! Say it is not so! Just call it quits, my dude. Hang them up gloves. It is time. You do not have to be jumping back up to 170 pounds when you’re recently analyzing the waters at 145. Do not stick around for your cash, man, the brain damage won’t be well worth it.
