San Antonio Spurs

Vegas Over/Under: 54.5

Fromal’s Record Projection: 55-27 The Bet: Avoid but do not ever bet against the San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs feel more vulnerable than they’ve been in quite some time.
Tony Parker and Rudy Gay are both working their way back from major injuries, while Pau Gasol and Manu Ginobili re-signed to get an opportunity to keep their battles from Father Time in exactly the same uniforms.
With LaMarcus Aldridge moving farther away from stardom, Kawhi Leonard is the lone participant who enjoys true celestial status, and he does not actually have the luxury of an excessive amount of depth him around.
Sure, the opening quintet of Dejounte Murray, Leonard Danny Green, Aldridge and Gasol is a person. Nevertheless, the main backups–while Gay and Parker are rehabbing, at least–are Patty Mills, Ginobili, Kyle Anderson, Davis Bertans and Joffrey Lauvergne.
That’s not particularly inspiring. Not by Spurs standards, at least.
However one figure is. Since Adam Spinella noted for NBA Math, head coach Gregg Popovich is one continuous reason for optimism, even as the dynasty looks like it is on the decline:
“In lieu of this certainty, we’ll watch anxiously as Pop attempts prove us wrong and make those subtle modifications to his roster. We are going to hope from an incredibly franchise that is stable for one run of basketball. We’ll look to see how this group of offense-first big guys and over-the-hill cast members constructs yet another top-ranked defense.”
Never bet against Popovich: just do not.
